The Sri Lanka Mahajana Party (SLMP) led by Asanka Nawaratne has allied with opposition leader Sajith Premadasa for future politics.
Nawaratne has met Premadasa at the latter’s office in Colombo and extended his support, said the opposition leader’s media unit.
SJB general secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara and several SLMP members were also present at the meeting.
Nawaratne contested the last general election from Kurunegala on the SLPP ticket, but has been functioning as an independent for several months now.
