The proposed political alliance led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is yet to receive final agreement by Freedom People's Congress (FPC) leader Dullas Alahapperuma.
A senior SJB member has told the Sunday edition of ‘Divaina’ that the alliance would be formed with or without Alahapperuma.
He claimed to have the support of nine out of the 13 MPs with Alahapperuma, who remains undecided and seems to take the line of the JVP.
Leaders of the allying parties are now studying the final draft of the alliance’s constitution, he said.
An alliance without Ranil, Mahinda
Meanwhile, Alahapperma has told the same newspaper that the FPC would work to bring opposition parties together and without both the SLPP and the UNP.
That alliance should not be confined to opposition leader Sajith Premadasa or NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, said the MP.
Alahapperuma said he wishes well to any opposition alliance, but said such a union should be the broadest possible one.
