Although tomorrow (30) is a Poya day, beneficiaries of the Aswesuma welfare benefit scheme will have the opportunity to access their funds through state banks.
The People's Bank in a statement said that all of its branches will be open tomorrow from 8.00 am to 3.00 pm.
All branches will also be open till 5.00 pm today (29) to facilitate Aswesuma payments.
Over Rs. 4 billion deposited
Out of the identified 2 million Aswesuma beneficiaries, payments have been initiated in stages for 1.5 million beneficiaries, said State Finance Mininster Shehan Semadinghe.
Addressing a press briefing at the Presidential Media Centre, he said that Rs 4.395 billion has already been deposited into bank accounts of 689,803 beneficiaries under the 1st stage.
The State Minister added that all inquiries could be made to the Aswesuma hot line 1924 from 9 am - 4 pm on weekdays.
