The government has decided to levy income tax from those who have bought blocks from leading apartment complexes.
Commissioner of Inland Revenue W.N.A. Wijesuriya has written to apartment management companies asking them to provide details of buyers and the occupants.
He has cited powers vested in him by clause 123(1) of the Inland Revenue Act in making the written request for information.
