Five leading cabinet ministers came under strong criticism and accusations at this week’s government parliamentary group meeting.

When they met under the chairmanship of premier Dinesh Gunawardena, 11 state ministers and backbenchers warned that they would vote against the votes of three of these ministries.

The critics were Madura Vithanage, Janaka Tissakuttiarachchi, Jayantha Ketagoda, Upul Mahendra Rajapakse, Samanpriya Herath, Sumith Udukumbura, Kumarasiri Ratnayake, Jagath Samarawickrama, Piyal Nishantha, Milan Jayatilake and Geetha Kumarasinghe.

Among their accusations were disregard for their job quota, unfair land distribution, priority for opposition MPs’ lists in school admissions and snubbing their proposals when allotting funds for rural development projects.

They asked the PM to raise these issues with the president.
