The government has decided to handover the maintenance of Beira Lake in Colombo to the private sector.
Accordingly, Groepo (Pte.) Ltd. and its local agent Groepo Lanka Bioscience (Pvt.) Ltd. will use high-tech equipment and scientific methods to clean the lake and ensue it does not smell.
Granting approval to the proposal, the cabinet has also instructed the relevant state agencies to introduce alternatives to the practice of diverting sewage and sewerage lines to the lake. A supervisory committee representative of the stage agencies has been named as well.
