The special task force of the police has started a psychology unit on a concept by its commandant, DIG Waruna Jayasundara.
It is tasked with identifying psychological and work pressure issues of STF personnel and giving mental strength to tackle them in a postwar and economic crisis scenario.
The new unit is manned by 16 officers who have followed a diploma on psychology.
Deputy commandant (administration) Athula Daulagala supervises the unit with expert guidance by the psychology department of Sri Jayewardenepura University and Prof. Gnanadasa Perera of Malaysia’s Lincoln University.
