Health minister Keheliya Rambukwella has appointed the six-member committee headed by Dr. Dedunu Dias and also comprising Prof. Priyadarshani Galappatti, Prof. Nithushi Samaranayake, Prof. S.S.P. Warnakulasuriya, Dr. Senith Liyanage and Dr. Philip H. Lee.

An inquiry report into the deaths of several patients while under medical treatment will be ready by around three weeks, said a member of the investigating committee.

Prof. Chandima Jeewandara said they would meet today (18) to discuss the modalities.

The most recent deaths include two women after being administered with an anesthetic drug and a girl aged 21 years, who was given a vaccine during treatment for a stomach ailment.

Rambukwella is expected to make a statement to parliament today (18) with regard to these deaths.

He will also table an inquiry report by another committee headed by the director general of health services.
