SLFP defectors have claimed success in their talks with party chief Maithripala Sirisena.
The talks that took place at the party’s central committee meeting yesterday (14) were attended also by those suspended members on invitation.
One of them, Mahinda Amaraweera, has told the media that they would support any move for the party’s well-being.
Meanwhile, MP Duminda Dissanayake said the suspended members would be reinstated in their party positions.
Party chief Sirisena told journalists that the party would function with unity.
However, SLFP sources said the party leader’s stand is opposed by general secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, Thilanga Sumathipala and some others.
