The adjournment debate on the second reading of the proposed anti-corruption act takes place in parliament today (06).
Presented to the House on June 21 by justice minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe, it was first debated on the same day.
The debate was adjourned after the opposition sought time to submit amendments.
Meanwhile, MP Chandima Weerakkody said a sectoral oversight committee has agreed with a number of amendments introduced by the opposition.
Therefore, the opposition will support its passage, he said.
SJB’s Ranjith Madduma Bandara said his party would consider supporting the bill only if the government accepted its amendments.
