‘Aswesuma’ could be a programme for the betterment of the poor, but its implementation is a complete failure, said opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.
Selection of eligible families should be made at grassroots level, he said.
It could have been scientifically correct to select them on account of their monthly electricity consumption, said Premadasa at a meeting of opposition parties yesterday (26).
As per the government’s method, many among the seven million poor are likely to be overlooked, he said.
