The court of appeal has deferred judgment until June 26 in a writ petition filed by senior DIG in the western province Deshabandu Tennakoon.

He is challenging a case being heard by the Colombo Fort magistrate’s court in connection with the finding of more than Rs. 17 million in cash from President’s House during the public protests last year.

The CA has also put off until June 26 the verdict in a second writ petition filed by him that seeks the invalidation of a letter sent by the attorney general to the CID to name him a respondent in the attack on GotaGoGama on May 09.

Incidentally, the president is due to decide on June 26 whether to extend the tenure of police chief C.D. Wickremaratne upon the expiry of a three-month service extension.
