Former convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation Udul Premaratne and 21 others have been acquitted and released in a 2010 public property damage case.
Colombo High Court judge Damith Thotawatte yesterday (23) delivered this verdict, saying the prosecution has failed to prove the charges against them beyond reasonable doubt.
They had been indicted under the Public Property Act of having damaged public property during a protest staged in front of the University Grants Commission in Colombo in October 2010.
