JJB leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake was warmly received in Italy, where large crowds gathered in Rome, Napoli, Florence and Milan for his meetings.

Addressing the event in Milan, Dissanayake said expatriate Sri Lankans set the trend every time there was a change in government.

Readiness for a similar change is evident now, he said, and told Sri Lankans in Italy their motherland needs them urgently to take her in a new direction.

Dissanayake said the JJB wanted to abolish the executive presidency, establish rule of law, make the state sector efficient and punish the corrupt.

Also present at a meeting in Napoli were invitees from leftist parties.
