The government has proposed handing over the Health Ministry to Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, reports ‘Deshaya’ newspaper.
However, Pathirana is yet to agree to the proposition, preferring to continue as the minister of industries and plantation industries.
An original proposal to appoint four cabinet ministers was later changed to a reshuffling of four portfolios.
A basic study has already taken place to relieve some from those having two or three portfolios and hand them over to others.
This comes after government seniors stressed to the president that a sudden appointment of ministers would be inappropriate with 2024 being a year of elections.
