A patient look at Ranil is needed to know the direction of politics in present-day Sri Lanka. It is pointless to look at Anura, Sajith or even the Rajapaksas. That is because the focal factor in our politics today is Ranil. All the others are at differing levels of strength.
Even in politics, a president cannot be the focal factor all the time. To be so, a political movement or a politician should choose advanced political strategies.
Having power of the state is not a must to be the focal factor in politics. The best example is the probationary government formed by the JVP during Chandrika’s rule. The JVP was the focal factor in politics then. Everyone had to hover around JVP. Somawansa Amarasinghe chose that advanced strategy. Even then, Anura and Tilvyn opposed it.
The next attraction in Lankan politics came to be in the Galle Face struggle. That too, was betrayed by Anura, Sajith and Prema Kumara. Ranil used that betrayal to gain power and to become the present day focal factor in politics. His political agenda has become the agenda of the country. Divulging his agenda is seen by the JVP and SJB memberships as being siding with Ranil.
Today too, Ratey Raala is trying to give that ignorant opposition yet another lead about Ranil. In recent days, a certain political change is seen from Ranil. Ratey Raala got hold of it with what he said.
Ratey Raala listens to all his speeches from A to Z. Ranil’s speeches contain high politics. That change is apparent by analyzing all the speeches he has made since becoming the prime minister.
