Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has issued a clarfying statement over an alleged exclusion it had imposed on Hiru Media Network from covering its events.

SLC secretary Mohan de Silva has officially intimated the decision to the Broadcaster's Guild of Sri Lanka and the chairman of the media network.

As per an exclusion imposed by the SLC’s executive committee, Hiru News was barred from covering any events organized by the SLC.

Thereafter, the broadcaster's guild warned of strong action against it in a letter to the SLC.

Secretary de Silva wrote back yesterday (29), rejecting a ban imposed on certain media as claimed.

At a meeting on 23 June, the management committee decided not to extend the official accreditation given to Hiru News, said de Silva.

The committee that met again on 27 July took the letter by the electronic broadcasters association into account and decided to permit the media institution to cover the Lanka Premier League starting in three days’ time.
