National People's Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has promised to establish politics of national unity in place of politics of racism.

Addressing Sri Lankans in the United Kingdom at a meeting in London yesterday (15), he described the present-day politics as being opposed to each other that had led to enough of wars, clashes and bloodshed.

In 2005, it was against the north, in 2010 it was against the Tamils and in 2019, it was against Muslims, Dissanayake said.

Parties in the south are opposed to the north, and vice versa, he noted, asking the Sri Lankans living in UK if they see such a thing in their adopted country.

Even with difficulty, politics of national unity should be promoted, said Dissanayake, adding that his party represents that form of politics.
