Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon says the public assistance is needed to curb crimes, drugs and the underworld.
The society will become safe by placing trust on the police, he said at the opening of a ‘Suvasara Kedella’ community-based rehabilitation and treatment centre in Kelaniya.
The public may have numerous criticisms about the police, he noted, adding they were prepared to correct the mistakes and shortcomings.
He urged that the courage and attitude of the police be not diminished since a majority of them are committed to their responsibilities.
