Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) leader S. Shritharan has warned of a plan by the Counterterrorism Investigation Division (CTID) to ruin the day-to-day life of Tamils in the north and the east through its continuing threats and intimidations.
He wrote a letter to the president in this regard on 04 June and tabled a copy to the House on the same day.
It gives details of seven Tamils who had been summoned to the CTID in the past three months.
Sritharan called for an end to arrests and investigations against Tamils and to release the arrested ones.
Harassment of political activists in the north has created a negative attitude towards the government, he added.
