The government has decided to grant a Rs. 5,000 million relief package for micro, small and medium industrialists and entrepreneurs who are blacklisted by the CRIB for failing to repay bank loans.
Accordingly, 1,000 of them having less than Rs. five million in debt will be given the facility.
The repayment period is two years with a very low interest.
The money will be obtained from Rs. 20,000 million allotted from the 2024 budget to revive bankrupt enterprises.
The finance and industries ministries are in the process of choosing eligible recipients of this loan facility.
Vice chairperson of Ceylon Federation of MSNE Shashika de Silva said the selections would be made by an independent panel of experts in a transparent manner.
