Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that the first term of the school academic year 2024 will begin on February 21.
The Minister said that this decision was taken as a basic step to systematically restore the delay caused by the closure of schools during the last Covid pandemic.
The Minister also said that in relation to 2024, it has been planned to conduct and complete all the three examinations of Grade Five Scholarship, GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level in the same year.
Taking a step forward compared to last year, the minister said that the printing of the required textbooks for the year 2024 has already started and the Government Printing Corporation has already started the printing of the textbooks and the private sector will be invited for tenders next month and the printing of the relevant textbooks will be handed over.
He also stated that the textbooks will be printed and completed by November this year (2023).
