Colombo Fort magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (28) remanded Chandima Nayanajith, the former opposition leader of the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council on charges of setting fire to the private residence of the then prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on July 09 last year.
The CID submitted a whatsapp audio message sent by Nayanajith to one Suranga Jayalath who lives in Italy.
In that message, he had claimed to have taken 100 persons to attack Wickremesinghe’s home.
The suspect was ordered remanded until April 04.
