Sri Lankan Vajra Chandrasekera’s debut novel ‘The Saint of Bright Doors’ has won two coveted awards in the Unites States.



It claimed the Nebula Award for best science fiction or fantasy published in the US.

Previously, ‘The Saint of Bright Doors’ was the winner of the 2024 Crawford Award.

It is presented annually by the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts for a first book of fantasy fiction.

Chandrasekara’s book was also a New York Times Notable Book of 2023.

It has also been nominated for the 2024 Locus Award in first novel, the 2024 Hugo Award in best novel and was shortlisted for the 2024 Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ+ speculative fiction.

From Colombo, Chandrasekera’s second novel Rakesfall is out this month.

His short fiction, poetry, and nonfiction has appeared in Analog, West Branch, and The Los Angeles Times, among others.
