A settlement has been reached in court with regard to the petitions filed by several parties against the sports minister’s gazette notification that introduced new sports regulations.
When a three-member Supreme Court bench took up the three writ petitions today (16), lawyers for both parties said they were prepared for a settlement.
Accordingly, the election for Sri Lanka Cricket will take place on May 20 under the previous regulations.
The new regulations will come into force on August 01, according to the settlement conditions.
The petitioners agreed to withdraw the petitions with the approval of the court.
