Sri Lanka’s Thushen Silva has won silver in the men’s pole vault event at the Asian Youth (U-18) Athletics Championship 2023 in Uzbekistan.
A student of Maris Stella College in Negombo, he cleared 4.70 metres, also his personal best.
Sri Lanka last won a pole vault medal in the Asian level in 1951, when M.A. Akbal won silver.
Sri Lanka is fielding seven athletes, five males and two females, at the ongoing championship in Uzbekistan.
