Sri Lankan Vanessa de Silva has been chosen to officiate in the final of the under-19 women’s World Cup 2023 presently underway in South Africa.

Her role as the match referee makes Vanessa the first Sri Lankan woman to officiate in an ICC tournament final.

Vanessa, also the first captain of a Sri Lanka women’s team, played in one Test and 13 ODIs as a right-handed batter.

In her only Test, she scored 78 and 63 in the two innings.
