Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has pledged to appoint a fully-powered commission to provide public servants with a salary that matches the cost of living.
He was speaking at a public rally in Digana town in Kandy yesterday (24).
Premadasa said a government led by him would raise the salaries of public servants by 24 per cent.
Also, their taxes would be eased and the 15 pc interest on senior citizens’ savings would be restored and pensioners who retired before 2016 would be given the ‘Agrahara’ insurance coverage, he added.
The opposition leader also promised new laws to guarantee the security of retirement benefits.
