While praising Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Namal Rajapaksa for appointing a sports council to propose strategic measures and policies for the development
of the sports, former Minister Mangala Samaraweera observed that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's 'throne' speech in Parliament yesterday (20) seems to have confirmed his worst fears.

"Congrats, Namal for appointing one of the best sports councils in recent times but your uncle’s ‘throne’ speech based on a warped majoritarian vision confirms my worst fear that Sri Lanka must be ready for ‘a great leap backwards’, Samaraweera said on Twitter.
