Arrangements have been made to resume activities at all government schools for all grades by August 10, the Ministry of Education announced.
Speaking to 'Neth News,' the Additional Secretary of the Education Ministry Ranjith Chandrasekara said steps have been taken to assess the coronavirus situation in the country before reopening schools and that they will conduct an awareness programme on the method of opening schools in the future.

He further said that all classrooms will be subject to social distancing guidelines and that a team will be appointed to study any health problems of children in schools to ensure the safety of all students.

Accordingly, under the first phase of reopening, government schools for students in Grades 11, 12 and 13 will reopen tomorrow (27) under strict health health guidelines.
