The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has suspended 26 of its projects costing Rs. 65,870 million
to deny returns to hundreds of thousands of people, a sectoral oversight committee has been told.
More than Rs. 5,140 million had already been invested on these development activities now on hold for numerous reasons, said committee chairman Ajith Mannapperuma.
Eleven of these projects with a combined spending of Rs. 2,530 million so far are not functioning mainly due to issues between various state agencies.
