Three men have died as lightning struck them while fishing in the Tammenna tank in Mihintale.
A fourth man escaped death, said the police.
The dead included two retirees of the Navy and the Air Force, both in their mid-40s.
Fishing in tanks that are drying up due to the drought is a common sight in the Rajarata these days.
