Three of the country's leading independent trade unionists are represented at the Asia-Pacific Labor Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
A study on the code of health and safety in the workplace presented by the International Labor Organization [ILO] will be held on May 18–19 with the participation of about fifty trade union representatives from the Asia Pacific region.

Darshika Galtaralekam is an Executive Member of the Free Trade Zones and General Employees Union (FTZ & GSEU), and Project Coordinator of the National Union of Metal and Migrant Workers of Sri Lanka (NUMMSL) while Riyana Feiroz has been working as a trade union activist since 2009.
