Sri Lanka’s longest religious expedition by foot is presently under way from Jaffna to Kataragama.
The pilgrimage began from Selvashanthi Murugan Kovil at Thondamanaru on May 06.
On the way, the pilgrims are being treated to refreshments and meals, accommodation and other facilities at places of religious worship and by the armed forces and the general public.
Army camps are organizing treats and medical camps for the benefits of participants of ‘Pada Yatra’.
One such event was held yesterday (09), as the pilgrims trekked across Kilinochchi.
The annual pilgrimage ends at Kataragama Maha Devale, where offerings are made to God Skanda.
