Several provincial governors, who have been asked recently by the Presidential Secretariat to tender their resignations, have decided not to do so, according to political sources.

They have reached the decision after consulting with a former powerful figure in the judiciary.

That legal expert has explained that there are no constitutional provisions to remove them in the event they do not step down, said the sources.

Already, the governor of the eastern province has decided against resigning.
