Sri Lanka police have sought Interpol assistance to overcome legal hurdles against the deportation of drug trafficker ‘Kudu Anju’ of Ratmalana who is being held in France, said a senior police official.
The main obstacle is that the man has received asylum in France.
Red alerts have been issued for ‘Kudu Anju’, an international drug trafficker and underworld leader.
French police are already investigating his businesses under laws against money laundering.
Produced before a court on May 04, he has been remanded further.
‘Kudu Anju’ owns a water bottling plant, winery, gym and a luxury restaurant - ‘Namaste’ - named after his French girlfriend.
His accomplices in France are said to be Jude Priyantha of Mt. Lavinia and Chamara of Batuwatte.
