The Lanka Coal Company has imported 30 shiploads of coal as per a written request by the CEB.

Chairman of the company Shehan Sumanasekara said full payments had been made in lieu of 22 shipments, while the eight others have been obtained on credit basis.

Two of the ships are presently unloading the coal.

With the requirement for the coming months available, the importation of coal will resume in September for which arrangements are underway, he added.

Sumanasekara expected imports at lower costs via a letter of credit.
