Massive crowds attended the May Day rally organized by the JVP in front of Viharamaha Devi Park in Colombo on Monday (01).
Its parade included a motorcade carrying the large-scale pictures of communist icons Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin and JVP founder Rohana Wijeweera started from BRC grounds and reached the rally’s venue two hours later.
NPP and JVP members, their affiliate trade unionists, students, women’s and youths’ wings and many other associates joined in.
Participants of the rally filled up the entire space from F.R. Senanayake Mawatha to both Nelum Pokuna and Hospital Roundabout.
