Slain journalist Dharmaratnam Sivaram, aka Taraki, is being remembered in the north and the east on his 18th death anniversary.
The media clubs of Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Mullaitivu held commemorative events yesterday (28), while another was organized in Jaffna today.
The senior journalist was abducted on April 28, 2005 and his dead body was found just 500 metres away from the parliamentary complex in Sri Jayewardenepura.
At the remembrance events, activists highlighted the fact that justice is yet to be ensured for journalists who were either murdered or were victims of enforced disappearances during the war.
They also demanded the withdrawal of the proposed anti-terrorism act, which they said, would directly impact media professionals.
