Colombo chief magistrate Prasanna Alwis today (24) ruled the court will not issue an order for the arrest of state minister Diana Gamage.
The magistrate was taking up a petition against Gamage over offences under the Immigration and Immigration Act.
The chief magistrate said CID has legal powers to arrest the state minister over the relevant offences.
He set aside the petition without fixing a date for the next hearing.
