Security has been strengthened in Akurana town in Kandy following a claim of an attempt at sabotage.
Police and Army personnel have been deployed to meet any situation, said police spokesman SSP Nihal Talduwa.
This follows a call to emergency hotline 119 about a plan at disruption to public life.
Police will remain in Akurana town until further notice, and additional Army personnel will be sent if needed, said Talduwa.
