The government is now experiencing internal conflicts and divisions, said FPC MP Prof. Charitha Herath.
Minor splits have appeared within, with some finding Ranil to be good and others saying he will not do, said the MP at a media briefing in Nawala yesterday (11).
“We know, but Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe does not, that the old set wants to play after the groundwork is laid,” said Herath.
With a presidential election due to be announced in 13 months’ time, a lot can happen within the government before that, said the MP.
He called for new sociopolitical reforms without which the country cannot come out of its depth.
The MP said both Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mahinda Rajapaksa were part of the problem, and they could never be the answer.
