The final draft report of the four-member delimitation committee was handed over to Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena by committee chairman Mahinda Deshapriya yesterday (11).

The report has reduced the number of local government members from 8,771 in 2017 to 4,714.

It has placed the number of elected members at 2,882.

Women’s’ representation remains at 25 per cent, while youth representation is yet to be decided.

The entire delimitation process is due to end by May 02, according to Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, presidential director general of community affairs.
