Road accidents have claimed 564 lives so far this year, said police spokesman SSP Nihal Talduwa.
From January 01 to April 09, 534 fatal road accidents had taken place, also causing serious injuries to 1,345 people.
Among them are 21 incidents in the past five days that claimed 25 lives, said the spokesman.
He blamed negligence on the part of drivers and jaywalking for 90 per cent of the road accidents.
