The remains of well-known professor emerita of pediatrics Priyani Soyza will be kept at A.F. Raymonds in Borella from today (09).
The funeral takes place tomorrow at the Borella Cemetery at 5.00 pm.
Prof. Soyza - pediatrician, clinical teacher, researcher, administrator and policy-maker - passed away at the age of 97.
From 1966-1991, she served as the professor of pediatrics at the then University of Ceylon, becoming the first woman in Sri Lanka to be appointed to a professorial chair.
