The general secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Dayasiri Jayasekara says that if the group of MPs who left the party to join the government do want to return, they will need to relinquish their ministerial portfolios.
Noting that it is good for all party members to be united, Jayasekara said that certain decisions had to be taken as those MPs had acted against the directives of the party.
Jayasekara added that They have resumed discussions with the party and if they join the party again, they should vacate their ministerial portfolios and come back as it's not possible to take the party forward by being part of the government and part of the opposition.
