The Government Analyst’s Department yesterday confirmed that Pulasthini Mahendran alias Sarah Jasmine, a converted Islamic extremist and part of Zahran Hashim’s terror group has died in the bomb attack that took place in Sainthamaruthu on April 26, 2019.

The Department made this confirmation based a DNA test done using delicate samples obtained for the third time with the participation of specialist Judicial Medical Officers,the Criminal Investigation Department investigators and Department’s experts.

The department said that the DNA test confirmed that that Pulasthini Mahendran alias Sarah Jasmine is among the dead. This test was conducted on court orders to identify deceased persons during investigations being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department into persons who died as a result of a suicide bombing while they were in a safe house in Saindamarudu area on April 26,2019, a statement issued by the police said.

“In the report submitted by the Government Analyst’s Department, it is stated further that DNA samples obtained from bone fragments found at the scene of the crime were checked with DNA samples obtained from Pulasthini Mahendran alias Sarah Jasmine’s mother and that the result confirms the biological relationship between a mother and a daughter and accordingly, it has been confirmed with a possibility of 99.999% that Rajaratnam Kaveeda is the biological mother of the owner of the bone fragments, the police statement said.

According to this report, it has been confirmed that Pulasthini Mahendran alias Sarah Jasmine was a victim of the suicide bombing which took place inside a safe house at Saindamarudu area on April 26 2019.
