The secretary to the president yesterday afternoon (28) issued a letter extending the term of IGP C.D. Wickramaratne by three months.
Earlier in the day, the president obtained the cabinet’s approval for a note submitted for that purpose.
The police chief was to retire on March 26 upon reaching the retirement age of 60 years.
