The Convener of the Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige has denied receiving a set of proposals from university student leaders in the north during their meeting March 12 in Jaffna.
Northern student leader Alagarasa Vijayakumar later told the media that they explained the sufferings of their community and handed over a proposal on 10 key points.
Vijayakumar said they would consider supporting southern struggles if the issues of the Tamils are also included in a common agenda.
Speaking to BBC Sinhala Service, Mudalige said there was no dividing line between the struggles of the northern and eastern peoples, although the Tamils have certain issues specific to them.
A dialogue would continue with them to reach common ground, the IUSF convener added.
