SriLankan Airlines is more than USD 1,000 million in debt, said aviation minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The national carrier’s foreign borrowings stand at 170 million USD, and the leasing instalment alone is USD 80 million, he said.

Furthermore, it owes another USD 800 million to the Ceylon Petrolium Corporation and banks, added the minister.
